if my company gives me no schedule but does not fire me can I apply for unemployment benefits and collect them ?

I am a security guard apparently just lost the contract at my old site.  according to my co-worker they will take them either a month or no schedule at all before they find me a location to work.  she says they will not fire you this is their attempt to make you quit.  I am will not quit.  If I have no schedule I feel then I should be able to get unemployment until they decide what they are going to do.

If you work a fulltime job and you had your hours cut below 40hrs, you can apply for unemployment.
