    Because nature is limited

    in space

in resources (such as water, arable land, oxygen and/or carbon dioxide, etc.)

Imagine exponential growth of the dandelion population.

    Dandelions fill up the yards.

    Then the fields.

Then every place on land (there is literally no room for people or any land animals of size larger than insects).

Then what? The growth stops. There is no more place on Earth for dandelions to grow. Even in the most ideal of conditions, exponential growth must stop when necessary resources are exhausted.
