What is the difference in the film world/production companies of studios/pictures/ companies... read more below ?

It seems like everything when it comes to movie production companies is- example- motion pictures, but also motion studios, but then also just called motion... or another example- Walt Disney pictures- Walt Disney studios- Walt Disney company.... what is the difference between all of these/is there a hierarchy?

The Walt Disney Company is the mothership. It owns the theme parks (Disneyland, Disneyworld, Euro Disney), the various media outlets (ABC, ESPN, Fox, National Geographic, etc), the retail stores, Production companies (Marvel, LucasFilm, etc), and most of the rest of the planet.

Disney Motion Pictures is the umbrella company that owns their various movie production companies (Pixar, Marvel, LucasFilms, BuenaVista, etc).

There is no hard and fast rule for what the hierarchy is with regards to company naming. Companies name themselves whatever they want and can assign different roles/purposes as they see fit.
