0, 1/2 and 17/30

Multiply them all by 30 to get rid of denominators:

0, 15, 17

So is 17 closer to 0 or 15?

Since it is closer to 15 (bigger than both 0 *and* 15), it is clearly closer to 1/2 rather than 0.

1/2

|17/30 - 1/2| =>

|17/30 - 15/30| =>

|2/30| =>

|1/15| =>

1/15

|17/30 - 0| =>

|17/30| =>

17/30
