    • "What breed of dog is this?"

Geez your question dragged out the scammers!

Unfortunately it also dragged out several who don't even know "MY" German breed's 3-word exact English translation of the 2-word Deutsche name.

Of the first 16 alleged answerers, only [Julie D] got it right.

I believe that it is a somewhat old-fashioned & slightly over-weight Deutscher Schäferhund aka German Shepherd Dog - fortunately NOT the "NAmerican Ski-Slope Dog" deviation that [william] (who SHOULD be [William]) displayed.

If your photo isn't of a pure-bred GSD, it is at least ¾ GSD.

His eyes are lighter than I like, his "tan" is almost white, and his upper-arm is far too steep - none of which matters for a pet (where character & trainability are the "MUST HAVE"s), but DO matter for breeding-stock.

To see the International Standard of "MY" breed, click: http://www.fci.be/en/nomenclature/GERMAN-SHEPHERD-... then choose your best language and click that line's red Adobe label then read the requirements listed by almost every international kennel club EXCEPT The KC (UK), AKC (USA) and CKC (Canada).

Geez I wish the programmers would improve their act! I am seeing a succession of questions from people who - like you - have a days-old question displayed on their activity page but the score-line states "0 questions".

Kreaky Kiwi - first pup in 1950, GSD trainer & breeder as of Easter 1968

We had a German Shepherd dog. Had to get rid of him as he kept invading our Polish neighbour's garden.

its alphabetical list or in Group 1.

Then find "MY" BREED's real name and its English (also French & Spanish) translation in Group 1.

Only in the USA is THAT regarded as a genuine Deutscher Schäferhund aka German Shepherd Dog.

Looks to be a German shepherd. A bit on the thin side.

A German shepherd is a German man or boy who looks after sheep. Find out the BREED-name of the dog thsat does most of his work.

It looks like a German Shepherd Dog.  That being said, it could be mixed with something else or just poorly bred.
