Is it legal to claim wildlife expertise without experience?

My friend and I went shopping and Walmart a few days ago and the manager wouldn't let us through one of the entrances because a bird got in, and I could see they were chasing it with a large handle or pole of some kind. I told the manager we were bird experts, and the manager was going to let us help lure the bird out until a security guard stopped him and us. Could we have gotten in legal trouble? Our only real experience with birds is feeding birds. Thank you God bless.

    Impersonation is a federal crime.

It is a lie to pretend to be something you are not.  It isn't necessarily illegal.

    You sound like real losers.

Thanks for the "God bless," but God doesn't read Yahoo Answers.

Lying is not illegal except under specific circumstances.

There was nothing illegal about what you did.

It would have been illegal to claim you were a veterinarian.
