The Daredevil movie was quite bad. Affleck is a mediocre actor and was a bad fit for the role. And Jennifer Garner was awful as Elektra. I like Duncan and Farell and the fat director guy as Foggy, but that wasn't enough to save a bad movie.
The TV series is quite a bit better, but in a way, suffers a similar problem. The guy playing Matt isn't really that good. The show is also darker than I'd like. While I get that choice, trying to play to the Frank Miller feel of the character which was Daredevil's strongest era, it felt like the show generally didn't 'get' what has made the MCU a hit. The MCU knows that Superheroes are fun, and blends humor, action, drama, and spectacle together. Daredevil leans too hard into the darkness and grit.
However, the Netflix DD's supporting cast has been exquisite. Kingpin, Punisher, Karen, the Bugle writer guy whose name escapes me...they've all been excellent. Some have criticized the guy playing Foggy, but I actually LIKE his portrayal. He comes off like the comic Foggy -- affable goofball who wants to be a successful lawyer, rather than dedicate ALL of their time to pro bono work.
Still, I liked Jessica Jones and Luke Cage better.
