A lot of change has happened to the Internet lately whether for the better or worst. Yahoo! Answers went from green to purple. Most users left while some went on and off and came back to check out their accounts.
I was here since 2012. I saw that we had profiles not just our account on this page. They disappeared. I even saw that we were given the option to add an avatar or other image for our accounts. I didn’t take advantage of that probably because it wasn’t working or I couldn’t find the link. They probably discontinued it around that time when I was new to this site.
Of course, I miss it. It was fun answering actual polls and surveys.
It still is fun because some users are returning with their interesting questions. Check out the other categories to make your mind explode. They also had changed. I’ve read that some former users use to see a chat log or something and they all commented on there, somewhere on Y!A. Did you know this site was called Yahoo! Q & A? Well, due to changes, people just quit. Some did. I remember when I went back to this website to see a purple screen. I was in complete shock! Questions popped back and fourth, talking negative about the *new* layout. Everyone was confused at first then we all got used to it.
The green format had an option to add your phone number. It use to just be an e-mail and that’s that. Now, you have to add a phone number to sign up. I made several newer accounts (not this year though) and find it harder to open up on this purple layout. I know our information gets spread out all over the Internet, but the anonymous feature was beaten up by Internet trolls. To this day, I still find Y!A quite entertaining and enjoyable. However, I dislike the inappropriate and immature questions. I do skip those and ignore. It’s just that the creative and original questions went down the drain. I’m talking about all the categories and not just P&S.
People get angry now-a-days. Things don’t get better, now do they?
Another thing I remember: This website use to have other countries that you were able to use this website in. Now, all countries merged together because I sometimes am in the wrong country page. For example, I was in the India Y!A and Canada Y!A. They’re the same as the U.S.A purple format, but with a different link. uk.answers.yahoo.com etc.
It used to be very, very different. There were a few ads on this page, though, not so much. Of course, I was kind of annoyed, but I payed no attention to them. I skipped them and looked at the questions and answers.
The mobile version of Y!A is not so great either. We have a maximum length to type our answers. We can’t go over the limit. And we no longer can make the question anonymous without clicking the Edit after posting our questions. Another thing that is missing is the spell check. I remember it was a thing back then. I used it a lot, but I knew how to spell most words.
What happened to deleting our personal questions? We can no longer delete our questions IF people answered them. If nobody, NOT A SINGLE ANSWER IS ON THERE, answered our questions, we are able to delete them.
There are lots of other changes that you may have noticed that I haven’t. Like I said before, I was here since 2012. I think it was March or April or somewhere around that time. I was in 3rd or 4th grade at that time. Of course, the Internet was as scary as the real world. I couldn’t really use it since my parents didn’t allow me to roam the Internet. However, I still did because I think I told them about it. They were fine with it, but they didn’t want me to get into trouble. I used Y!A & Quibblo, but I was extremely careful and tried my best to avoid the inappropriate questions & answers.
I still use the Internet and this website as of now.
Y!A and Youtube both made changes to their website, I’m sure most people aren’t proud of.
Google also changed. Bing and Firefox were also new at that time, but I’m sure they changed. Google Chrome is new. Yahoo! probably was kind of new.
Internet Explorer has been around since a very, very long time.
Safari is kind of new because of the mobile phones.
See? The Internet changes everyday just as someone edits the Wikipedia every minute.
If this site is uncomfortable, I suggest you to spend your time wisely here. Maybe find something busy and explore the great outdoors. Or go to a different Q + A website/app. I have found Ask.fm & used it ever since 2013. Beware! It changed as well and became one of the social medias. It had a blue and white icon then it turned to a white and red icon.
For so long, I deleted it and forgot about it until yesterday I checked it in the app store. To my surprise, it completely changed. It’s not the same anymore.
There’s a recently added app called Miitomo. It’s basically a mini & phone version of the beloved Miis you were used to seeing on your Wii and Dsi/3DS. It’s a first attempt of Nintendo making an app. I have it now, and it is better than Y!A. I think it has better questions.
However, it is your choice whether you want to completely leave this site behind and make it one of your memories or use it and get addicted to it (again).
I made mine already. I became as active as ever. Of course, I was active in early 2012. I was semi-active in 2013 and 2014. I left then came back to see a purple format. In mid-2015, I used it quite frequently. 2016, I’m as active as can be to make this website a littler funner and more interesting.
I might be on here for so long. It’s a slim possibility that I’ll quite and never turn back to this website. I could be suspended before I reach to level 7 and try my best to make this site useful again. . . I’ll miss this website, though. I will make it a memory. Make it yours, too. :)
