So at 36 years old, my parents were done with me living at home. Times are tough, and I don't feel like working in this horrible economy with Trump about to ruin the worth of our dollar anyways. But last week my Mom said either I get a job and contribute to expenses, or become homeless. Taking the former, I told my friend Ethel at a bar I finally landed a job as a Data Entry clerk downtown. To celebrate, we ordered lots of alcohol and I got very drunk. Ethel then said "Hey, its just your first day. Why not call off and start Tuesday instead?"I took her advice, kept drinking- and called off sick.
On Monday evening, I stayed up late gossiping with Ethel, and ended up staying up until 5AM. When my alarm went off, I ignored it and when I woke at 10AM, realized I was late for my *second* day. I quickly called HR and told them I was still sick. They seemed less understanding, but allowed for it.
Wednesday came, and when I arrived at work someone else was sitting at my desk. Confused, I asked the supervisor what was going on. She explained they had replaced me Tuesday due to me calling off before even starting. I was so embarrassed. Worse, I told my parents what happened and they flipped. I am now moving in with my mother's sister in boring Minnesota! I have to lose Ethel as a friend and go out of state, where I will be forced to work in their Yarn Store as a cashier and stocking clerk. How can I change this, I want to move back home?
