I have not timed it specifically, but I know I can sprint a 50 without breathing. Although it may only take around 25 seconds to sprint a 50, you can not hold your breath as long when using your energy. If I sat still underwater and timed how long I could hold my breath, it would probably be much longer.

the first timed meet i went to I was so focused, i forgot to breath on my 50 Free. At that time my time was 35.09. it was kinna crazy cuz i came in first and the people around my are like "BREATH", ahhhhhh!!!! I can now hold my breath for 1.57!

btw - my 50 Free is now 22.65.....im 17!

i would have to say about a minute at longest. alotta people can hold longer though. it all depends on physical condition. swimmers can hold their breath alot longer b/c they are more in shape and used to having to take little or no breaths when swimming.

I can butterfly kick underwater for 2-1/2 laps...so I guess that's like 2-3 hours
