How to start a boys AAU Basketball team in Northern California?

I live in San Leandro, California and have been coaching youth basketball for the past 3 years. Looking to start a team in the 16 yr old range. I've been on the AAU website but hoping to get in contact with a former or current AAU basketball coach.

The best thing to do is what you said. Get in contact with the AAU administration. They will help you set one up if there is a need for one. If there are many other teams around there may not be a need. Also, you will have to have some ideas for a sponsor. If you gather up as much information and are prepared ahead of time when you talk to the adminstrators the process will go a lot smoother and they will be more willing to work with you. Some of the people at the AAU places can be a little hard to work with so make sure you show them that you are committed to this.
