Telegraph Cowan is our weakness?

It is clearly obvious the Cowan is to slow and should be replaced.
He telegraphs his intent to pass or kick.
Just watch he double handles before he passes but when he kicks he does a slow draw out punt.
This the reason we look slow behind the scrum and why Donald was always under pressure.

You must be joking!!! Cowan is great on defence, as hard as nails and not scared to put a bit of biff in. I don't seem to remember Weepu making many memorable try saving tackles for the AB's or the 'canes yet Cowan averages a couple a game. Cowan and Leonard are definately the two best 9's in NZ rugby.

I certainly dont think hes our weakness. Our weakness is that everyone else has caught up to us. The game has turned into force back because people are to scared to run it against us because of our breakdown prowess. Weepu is a beast and comes a very close second to Cowan. Leonard is a wee way off his best but hes all class too. I must admit though im missing the running rugby of 06-07

I used to think that Cowan was a liabilty. I don't know if I've got over his Marshallness (I hated Marshall except when he was an AB) or if he has matured in his game, but I think he is quite good now and I saw him put in a massive try saving tackle against the Welsh. I now think his stepping before he passes etc is just deceptive as he seems to snap out his passes to first receiver ok. He is a nuggety runner and depending on how you saw Leonards game is the best in NZ at the moment. Weepu was great and is still very good, but I think the Lions have stuffed him by playing him too much at 10.

Cowan is, in my opinion, the best overall half-back in New Zealand at the moment. He is certainly one of the best defensive half-backs is the world. The man's an absolute work-horse. He's always giving everything he has to the team for every second he's on that field. For the All Blacks, he works best as the starting half-back and then being replaced by Weepu at about the 60 minute mark. Cowan is good for a long time on the pitch, while Weepu is good coming on at that 60 minute mark because his style is so explosive but it's not as maintainable as Cowan's over a long period of time. Cowan has proved himself at international level time and time again. He's got pace, his kicking is on-point and accurate, his passing is great. As for us looking slow behind the scrum, the half-back, ANY half-back, can only move the ball out as fast as his forwards will allow him. If the forwards are having problems, the half-back can't do his job properly, putting the first-five under pressure and down the back line it goes. Even behind an often struggling Highlanders forward pack he manages to outshine nearly every half-back in the Super 14 competition.

Please answer me this, how did New Zealands only try start today? I'll answer it for you, Cowan spotted an opportunity and took advantage of it with a brilliant instant pass that put whoever it was in space leading to the Hore try. When he's clutchign or stepping like every halfback in the world its because he's got time, but he sure knows when to fire one out to take advantage of a weakness. His pass is by far th best in the country to, so even if there is a problem then its easily fixable, whereas you cant teach someone like Weepu to pass any better because he's reached his level.

Hahaha. What a dreamer! Cowan's the man. If Weepu was the man he would be on tour with the AB's instead of leading a losing Lions team. Go back to bed, its obvious you got up too early this morning.

This thing about 'slow' is rubbish. They said that about Marshall and Mehrtens never got caught in possession nor failed to deliver what he wanted to do with the ball.
    Neither was Carter compromised anytime.
When top half's pick up the ball the loosies hesitate a slit second to see what he is going to do if he is looking
because of his class. Once they hestitate the inertia delays their proper take-off, hence Marshall and Cowan
rarely lose anything, its timing not speed.

You have got to be kidding. If it wasn't for Cowan, you guys would've conceded more tries in the Tri Nations than you already have. He's just magnificent in defence. Have you seen how many times he's made try-saving tackles on lot bigger guys than him? Pierre Spies, Wycliff Palu, Peter Hynes, Nathan Sharpe are some of them.
