What are my chances at this job?

This afternoon I filled out an application for a past employer (worked there 2 years ago). I spoke with the supervisor asked him if he would rehire me and he said yes, nodded his head and everything. He told me theres no openings and check back 2 weeks from now. A few hours later I see an ad for that position. So either hes lying or somehow the position got filled, I have no idea. Keep in mind I left the job on bad terms from a drug test shortly into my second stint with the employer. So do you guys think hes being honest or simply doesn't want to hire me? I told him i loved working here and he seemed friendly, its just weird seeing a posting online for a job he said isn't open.

i know employers can find out drug test history through background checks but is it possible, legal or not, that my old employer is revealing the drug test?

Also i have a feeling the supervisor is giving me a bad name to potiential employers. ive been looking for 6 months now for any job

Your chances of being hired at your past employer are extremely poor. If you left the job on bad terms they are not going to give you another chance. There are thousands of available job candidates out there. The supervisor most likely did not want to hurt your feelings and tell you that you don't have a snowball's chance in **** of being rehired.
