A clutch putt is one of importance to the player. It may be a putt to win a hole after some difficulty in the play, it may be one to tie a hole after the opponent sunk a " no brainer "; it may be a putt which continues a playoff or it may be the putt which leads to your best score ever.

Clutch putt" is simply a term that is frequently used for a putt which a player must make, especially where there is a lot of pressure on them, for an average golfer it may simply be a 6 foot par putt, for a professional it could be a 10 footer to win a tournament or get into a play off.

It's a putt that is made at a critical time....such as to extend a match in matchplay format...to save a par...to make a birdie...same deal as a clutch free throw in basketball or a clutch field goal on football..or clutch hit in baseball
