Hi again!
Okay Job scenario.... to be honest, it's not so hot.
Like all over the world right now, there is a shortage of jobs. I have a few friends who have got a year long visa to visit and work here in New Zealand. They don't have a degree in anything and are seriously struggling to find a job. Like any country, if you don't have a degree it's much harder to get a visa to stay and work. We have plenty of people working at supermarkets and in Cafes and the NZ government would rather have NZ citizens working there than bringing foreigners in to do it.
If you have a degree in an area that we are short of then you can guarantee yourself a job straight away. NZ is desperately short of people in the medical field (Doctors, nurses), Teachers (Especially Chemistry, Physics or Maths - but not P.E teachers), Skilled engineers, Uni Lecturers, and other highly skilled professions.
If you are serious about moving to NZ I suggest you do it after Uni. I know it means you have to wait longer, but finding a job and getting a visa will be a hundred times easier!!! I am desperate to go live in the States...DESPERATE! It's like my dream but I am going to wait till I finish uni so I can go over there and enjoy myself more even if it means a few more years in NZ!
Good luck!
