What's a nice bottle of wine for a romantic occasion?

Which one to try? I want something special other then beers and spirits and cocktails. I want something expensive and something that is really nice.

Expensive doesn't not always = good.
As to the wine, it depends on a number of factors. Is it for a meal; if so what? Does the person you wish to get the wine for A. in fact LIKE wine, and B. like a nice dry white? a fruity red? a light blush?

Personally, I like a strong Australian Shiraz (Yellowtail makes a stellar Shiraz for a very wallet friendly price), if I'm looking at a red. It's great with steaks, or pasta with bolognese sauce.
If I'm in the mood for white, I'm looking for a good Chenin Blanc. I'm not a big white wine fan, so I go for white that aren't as typically dry as your standard Chardonnay or Savignon Blanc. It's great with lighter foods - salads, soups, chicken, pastas with cream or oil based sauces. I haven't yet figured out my favourite winery for a white, but if you're going for a white, you're going to want to get a Californian or Okanagan wine. After the 2003 fires, the wines have been even more superb than usual.

Whenever I want to impress a girl or buy something romantic, I head for Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label Champagne. It's super smooth and delicious and it has a very upscale look. It's not that expensive though, about $40-50 a bottle. Definitely turns heads whenever I bring it out. Here' some more info on it.

There is only one drink for a romantic ocassion...Champagne (if you are inthe US, I mean Champagne, not Domestic) Vintage is better than Standard, Prestige is even better, Krug, Diamant Bleu, Roederer Crystal, Veuve Cliquot, Black Label, that kind of thing.

My favorite is "Robert Mondavi Private Selection."
It's very classy and an excellent dinner wine.
Most stores carry it.

You can't beat Red Bordeaux for any kind of special occasion.It is expensive since it is not always available.

If you really want to be a high roller then opt for a bottle or two of 2006 Chateau Lafite Rothchild 1er Cru it is retailing here in France for Euros 394 per bottle or US$472
