Tiger woods hasn't won a title in ages, why is he still considered the best?

He hasnt really won many major titles recently but he always gets all the hype and is still considered the best...... why?

7 pga titles in his comeback year! every tournament aprt from 1 major in the top ten this year..... need I go on? what a rediculous question! 2nd in his last tournament and 1st in his second to last one......

Tiger Woods did not win a major title this year ( 2009 ). He only finished first in six events. Then went on to win the Fed-Ex Cup. He also won the money title again, not including the exhorbitant amount for winning the Fed-Ex. So if Tiger is not the one, which other golfer can be considered the best ?

With very few exceptions, almost every professional golfer would like to win as many events in his career as Tiger has won in 2009.

He won one of the playoff tournaments a couple of weeks ago. He won the Fed Ex Cup which goes to the most consistent golfer throughout the year. He contended in 3 of the 4 majors. He contended in 3 of the 4 playoff events. He won 6 times this year after having reconstructive knee surgery last year and not playing for 8 months. He finished out of the top 10 less than 5 times this year. No one else has remotely played that well this year. That is why he is still #1.

If you're paying any attention whatsoever, he is still clearly the best player in the world and it isn't even close. He is lock for 2009 player of the year. No majors this year but hes won about half dozen tourneys this year already. He's just fine. Even the great Tiger only wins about 1 in 4 events he enters.

Please,just because Tiger did not win a major in the year 2009;that
does not mean he is not the best.I think the other players have been
welcomed into his world to quote Steve Stricker.
His competitors have raised their games in order to compete.
The reason I asked the questions was to find out if you truly love this
game or if you just wish to waste people's time in this forum.

So what!!........he's won over 70 events and is going to be the greatest winning golfer of all time....just because he didn't win a major this year doesn't mean he's not the best.....if he won every tournament in a year apart from the majors this would mean he's not the best golfer around according to you!

he always is around the leader. he doesnt crack under pressure and has established himself and made millions. he has a lot of wins this year and should have had a major. phil mickelson hasnt won a major in long time and is considered great.

that has to be the dumbest thing ive ever herd... he has won 71 times on the PGA Tour alone, and thats not including how man ytimes he has won on the other pro tours. he has 14 majors and he won six times in his comeback season from surgery. I've said enough

He gets hyped because he attracts the most people to the game. He is the most identifiable across the most races and ages. Asians, latins, americans ... otherwise, only the old white folks would be attracted to golf like before he began competing.
